FIELD: mechanical engineering; machine elements; single-acting shock absorbers with plastically deformable elements; railway transport for securing containers with explosive cargo to reduce probability of explosion in case of collision. SUBSTANCE: shock-absorbing coupler includes plastically deformable element 1 with ears 2 used for securing the element. Element 1 is made in form of at least two lengths of wire twisted together form center in such way that one half of wire length has right-hand twist and other half has left-hand twist. EFFECT: simplified construction; increased rigidity and resistance to deformation at considerable working stroke. 2 dwg
