FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: this relates to creation of frozen ground barriers. Ground freezing unit has vortex-type gas cooler installed on bottom of column. One branch line for cool flow of vortex-type cooler is directed downwards, and other branch line is directed upwards against flow of compressed air being delivered. Vortex-type cooler can reduce temperature of part of inlet flow down to minus 100 C and can be installed at any depth in bore-hole. These features allow for quick cooling of bore-hole bottom and shaft with surrounding ground. Power consumption for cooling ground by aforesaid unit is substantially lower in comparison with known systems operating only in winter with injecting ambient air. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 dwg
