DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CLEANING DIALYSIS SOLUTION IN ARTIFICIAL KIDNEY APPARATUS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2110283 C1

FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves forcing solution coming from dialyzer through electrolyzing unit with electrocatalytic electrodes made from platinum using current density of 10-3- 10-2 A/cm2. The solution also passes in turn through gas-and-liquid separator and platinum-treated carbon filter and comes back to the dialyzer. Sodium hypochlorite concentration is retained at the dialyzer level of 50-10 mg/l. To do it, time of contact taking place between dialyzate solution and platinum-treated carbon of the filter is set to be equal to 10 s. Current feeding the electrolyzing unit is controlled in setting its maximum value at the beginning of treatment and then reducing it in a way to enable sodium hypochlorite concentration to stay within the mentioned admissible limits of 50-10 mg/l. Buffering additive agent like sodium bicarbonate having 3-5 g/l concentration is additionally added to the initial composition of dialyzing circuit solution for stabilizing pH value. Device has dialyzer, electrolyzing unit, gas-and- liquid separator, sodium hypochlorite concentration pickup, platinum- treated carbon filter and pump. Electrolyzing unit has constant current power supply source with command unit connected to sodium hypochlorite concentration pickup with negative feedback for carrying out automatic adjustment of electric current supply mode. EFFECT: improved reliability and safety characteristics. 3 cl, 1 dwg, 2 tbl
