METHOD OF AND DEVICE FOR PACKAGING STEEL NAILS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; packaging of nails, woodscrews, small-size bolts and studs. SUBSTANCE: proposed method of packaging steel nails into boxes includes manufacture of boxes and covers, similar to those of inner parts of match boxes, from roll cardboard on automatic machines with transfer of boxes to conveyors and provision of several flows of nails, equal in mass, on vibrating chutes, rough metering of portions of nails on flow simultaneously on lever meters and simultaneously weighing of metered out portions by electronic balance with putting out information on mass of portion to recorders which, in their turn, put out checks stating the mass and price of portion, orientation and placing the nail portions into boxes delivered to zone of packaging by step conveyor, gluing the checks on boxes. Boxes, thus made, are accumulated for transfer of batch to other conveyor on which covers are placed onto boxes and ready packs with nails are delivered to conveyors on which packs are turned through 90 degrees to form rows and layers and are placed into reusable containers, layer by layer. Proposed device has intake vibrating chute, trimmings screening drum, cascade of vibrating chutes with meters and balance placed in between, device for orientation and putting nails into boxes and belt conveyor. Device is furnished additionally with box and cover automatic making machines making the boxes and covers from roll cardboard, chain step conveyors, check application device, intermediate accumulator, cover and box loaders and devices for coating box end faces with glue, nail pack row and layer forming devices and lifting and stepping table for reusable containers.
