FIELD: industrial production of furfurol and acetic acid. SUBSTANCE: prior to treatment with steam, stock ground to technological wood chip size is wetted with catalyst solution which contains 0.3-5.0% organic acids and/or 0.5-93.0%. Sulfuric acid and/or 0.2-35.0% salts or mixed salts forming, during dissociation, cations having at least two charges. Catalyst solution contains at least two said components and catalyst solution is used in amount of 3-20% by weight of dry matter. Furfurol and acetic acid are recovered by rectification or other well known methods. After being treated with steam, remainder of stock is discharged from reactor by decompression method, and if desired, partially dehydrated by decompression and/or drying and is used as fuel to produce process steam and/or for other purposes. EFFECT: smaller amounts of catalyst used and more ecological process.
