METHOD FOR SUPERFINISHING OF RACEWAY OF BALL BEARING RACES Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: race is rotated, and finishing tool makes oscillatory motion around center of curvature of raceway lateral profile. Finishing tool is represented by elastic tape pressed with its operating surface to raceway surface being treated. Elastic tape is pressed by rigid clamp which is preliminarily profiled by pressing it to operating surface of elastic tape which is arranged lengthwise in raceway of nonrotating race. Tape is moved along with race by oscillatory motions relative to immovable clamp about race axis. Linen fine-grained abrasive cloth is used as elastic tape, and its rear side is taken as operating surface. Fine-grained abrasive bar, polymers, rubber, as well as copper, bronze, and aluminum are used as clamp. EFFECT: balancing of removal of allowance along raceway generating line and rolling-on of combs left after preceding treatment. 5 cl, 3 dwg
