FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: unit is assembled of driving and driven brake disks and ratchet wheel. Size of ring contact surfaces of ratchet wheel is selected to provide brake margin greater than or smaller than optimum value. Then ratchet wheel is finished in mean radial size of ring contact surfaces to value determined by means of auxiliary ratchet wheel. Final assembling of load thrust disk brake is carried out by installing ratchet wheel with pawls for movement relative to shaft between driving and driven brake disks and fixing the wheel by adjusting nuts. EFFECT: provision of optimum brake margin coefficient. 3 cl, 3 dwg
