FIELD: hydraulic engineering. SUBSTANCE: this relates to facilities intended for shutting-off flow of liquid containing substantial amount of abrasive particles or inclusions and it can be used in hydraulic engineering structures, land reclamation, etc. Shut-off device has body with inlet pipe connection and outlet pipe connection and valve seat located between inlet and outlet pipe connections. Valve lock is fastened on one end of vertical spindle which passes through body cover and is provided with sealing gland. Other end of spindle is connected with handwheel. Auxiliary isolating member is installed so as to embrace spindle and lock and closing valve seat. Auxiliary isolating member is made in the form of cup turned upside down. Made in bottom of cup is central hole for passing of spindle and possible free displacement of sleeve relative to spindle. Lock is installed on end of spindle with clearance. Lock is adapted for location inside cup and is of thickness which is equal to 0.3-0.9 of depth of cup inner space. Due to location of lock inside cup, lock ensures closing of valve seat during opening and closing of shut-off device thus protecting it from abrasive wear and consequently enhancing wear-resistance of shut-off device.
