FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: copper layer protective against diffusion saturation is applied on all surfaces of specimens prior to chemical and thermal treatment. Then copper is removed from two adjacent edges which have no groove-concentrator. Parts and specimens are subjected to diffusion saturation, copper is removed from specimen surface, parts and specimens are hardened and tempered, and specimens are tested. Type of specimens and test equipment are not changed and it allows to use this method at negative temperatures. EFFECT: extended range of reliable determination of specimen impact elasticity. 1 dwg, 2 tbl, 2 exph
