FIELD: satellite communications engineering. SUBSTANCE: satellite communication system has frame relaying protocol based switch as base-absorbing component provided with several physical ports of terminals connected to communication lines to exchange messages with terminals serviced by ground station and several ports of up/down communication lines connected to modulation/demodulation unit. Switch functions to control connection of one or more chosen virtual ports corresponding to at least one of physical ports of terminals to at least one of chosen ports of up/down communication line and also to control determination of message signal route downwards over communication line.
