FIELD: virology, biotechnology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to strains of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) of subtype B which are detected in 90% infected males and above 50% of infected females. New strain of HIV-1/Russia, GM-12-95 (RU 1295) is distributed in Russia regions in population of male homosexuals. Strain shows high reproductive activity, easily multiplied in neoplastic T-lymphoid cells MT-4 and SupT1 and good stored at -70 C. Strain HIV-1/Russia/ GM-12-95 (RU 1295) is identified by some independent procedures, polymerase chain reaction and analysis of nucleotide sequence of its genome. Strain has the following amino acid sequence of the region: CTRPNNNTRKRIHIGPGRAYFTGRIG- -DIRQAYC. The obtained strain is a suitable biotechnological natural model and can be used for preparing diagnostic and experimental vaccine preparations. EFFECT: strain indicated above. 4 tbl
