FIELD: leather industry. SUBSTANCE: skins are subjected to tanning by successively introducing into pickle liquid zinc acetate (1.0-2.0% of skin weight), sulfuric acid (0.5- 0.8%), and zeolite (1.5-2.5%), after which skins are subjected to shaving and treatment with chrome tanner in amount 1.8-2.2% of weight of intermediate product (calculated for Cr2O3). Method allows reducing chrome consumption and loss of chrome with waste; obtaining chrome-free waste easy to utilize; obtaining white intermediate product which facilitates intake guiding into bright colors; and increasing sweat and mildew resistance of leather. EFFECT: improved leather production process efficiency. 2 tbl
