FIELD: oil and gas production industry. SUBSTANCE: according to method, installed beyond casing pipe in well is thermometric equipment, recorded is time of putting well in operation, measured are well output, pressure and temperature at well mouth, and temperature beyond casing pipe. Also recorded is time of measuring all aforesaid parameters. After that, coefficient of convective heat transfer is calculated. Time of measuring these parameters is set to be equal to period of minimal change of temperature in preceding and subsequent measurements. Calculation of coefficient of convective heat transfer in well is effected by repeatedly solving by finite difference method of transitional equation of heat conduction in non-uniform medium when it incorporates displaceable phase boundary with step-by-step correction of boundary conditions from well side by application of successive approximation method. EFFECT: minimizing ecological harm due to reduced period of release to atmosphere of exhaust gases in carrying out experimental operations. 1 cl, 1 tbl, 2 dwg
