FIELD: plant protection. SUBSTANCE: objective of invention is to protect plants against infectious agents by way of before-sowing treatment of seeds and planting stock, treatment of vegetating plants, or dressing of soils with chitosan solutions containing various organic acids. Environmentally safe chitosan aqueous solution-based composition manifesting biological activity with regard to crops contains succinic or lactic acid, or mixture of one of them with glutamic acid. Content of chitosan (molecular weight 41600 to 800000 and degree of deacetylation 75-90%) is 0.004 to 0.500 wt % and that of organic acid 0.004 to 0.500 wt %. Chitosan/organic acid weight ratio is 1:1 and pH of solution 5.6-6.0. composition also protects environment against remains of pesticides.
