FIELD: metallurgy, namely rolled stock production, possibly manufacture of semifinished rolled products in cogging and billet mills. SUBSTANCE: method for rolling widened downwards ingots in cogging and billet mills includes steps of deforming ingots in two mutually normal planes and intermediate tilting of them at deformation transition from one plane to another in such a way that ingot is guided to rolls by its widened portion turned forward in first rolling pass and pass next after tilting; deforming ingot at reduction degree providing difference 0.75-0.95 of sizes of its small and large bases; at second rolling pass and second pass after tilting deforming ingot at percentage reduction no less than 12%. EFFECT: less loss of yield due to lowered waste for technological crop. 1 tbl
