FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves putting measured amount of mixture containing enzymes directly on skin surface. The mixture is buffer solution of cholesterol oxidase (or one with cholesterol esterase added) and other surface active substances. The mixture is applied by means of sealed cuvette having no bottom, its base fixed on skin. After the mixture being applied to skin, concentration of cholesterol reacted with enzyme is determined in reaction solution by directly measuring hydrogen peroxide amount. The so obtained values describing the amount of hydrogen peroxide in the reaction mixture are used for calculating the amount of cholesterol in skin. Hydrogen peroxide level is to be determined with any method available. Electrochemical transducer, colorimetric indicators or spectrophotometric method can be applied with hydrogen peroxidase and substratum used. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of method. 5 cl, 4 dwg, 3 tbl
