FIELD: alternative power supplies for generating electrical and mechanical energy. SUBSTANCE: sail may be stiff or soft, amount of sail is 14%, maximal belly is spaced two thirds from sail front bolt-rope, sail elongation is from 3 in vertical position to 1 in horizontal position, provision being made for adjusting vane motion by the wind at angle β = 90 deg., effective windward angles of sail attack, from 20 to 38 deg., and for varying area of soft sail. This ensures better utilization of wind energy due to larger area of vane, its better airfoil, and higher aerodynamic force coefficient. EFFECT: reduced initial and operating wind speed of windmill; reduced metal input and cost, improved operating reliability. 7 dwg
