FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: given electromagnetic meter is intended for determination of orbital wave velocities in coastal zone of sea where parameters of currents are characterized by highest variability and extreme magnitudes at relatively low depths, for study of movement of water flow and transfer of drifts. Meter has primary submerged water-tight converter of flow velocity to electric signal and coastal measurement unit connected by communication line. Converter is manufactured in the form on induction coil with system of four peripheral electrodes arranged in diametrical opposition and connected to input of preamplifier. Coastal measurement unit includes power supply source and processing and registration unit. Power supply source is A.C. source. Primary converter includes rod which working end has cylindrical core whose side and end face surfaces carry correspondingly induction coil with system of four peripheral electrodes arranged in diametrical opposition and upper and lower focusing coils connected to output of power supply unit in opposition to induction coil.
