FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: outer diameter of fuel elements, as well as diameter and mass of fuel core are chosen depending on rated thermal capacity of reactor out of definite range. Fuel assemblies that have fuel bundles are also characterized by range of sizes of fuel claddings and mass of fuel in bundle at definite quantity of fuel elements, considering rated thermal capacity of reactor. Cores are built of fuel assemblies considering thermal capacity of reactor, water-to-uranium ratio, number of fuel elements in fuel assemblies; fuel elements have claddings of different inner and outer diameters. EFFECT: improved fuel burn-out which extends reactor power range and reduces depressurization probability of fuel elements. 14 cl, 16 dwg
