FIELD: absorbing material and methods of their production. SUBSTANCE: absorbing material has cellulose fibers treated with hydrophobic substance in presence of water. Hydrophobic substance has specific surface of, at least, 50 sq.m/g. Treatment consisting of substance and fibers when fibers have dry substance in amount of, at least, 20%. Material treated in compliance with the claimed invention, has absorption rate exceeding that of thin paper. EFFECT: improved sorption ability. 14 cl, 1 tbl
