METHOD FOR AZIMUTHAL ORIENTATION OF BOTTOM-HOLE DEVICES AT DRILLING OF DIRECTED WELLS Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: instrumentation for bore-hole drilling. SUBSTANCE: this can be used in drilling of directed wells and in creation of subsurface reservoirs. Method is realized through undertaking inclinometric measurements of deviation of bore-hole from vertical line and orientation of lowered bottom-hole device relative to direction of aforesaid deviation. According to results of inclinometric measurements before and after lowering of bottom-hole device into well, determined is turning angle of bottom-hole device for reaching preset orientation of device at directed drilling. Application of aforesaid method allows for achieving more accuracy in orientation of bottom-hole devices at drilling of directed wells in condition of influence of magnetic mass of bottom-hole devices and pipe strings.
