FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method comprises decomposing aqueous suspension of aluminium hydroxide with sulfuric acid to produce aluminium sulfate melt, dissolving it with water to give aluminium sulfate solution at Al2O3:SO3 molar ratio of 1: (3.16-3.42 with concentration of 20- 25%. Aqueous ammonium sulfate solution with concentration of about 35% is prepared, aluminium sulfate and ammonium sulfate solution are mixed, and mixture is cooled. Precipitated crystals of alumoammonium alum are separated by filtration or centrifugation without washing and drying operations. EFFECT: higher yield and improved property of alumoammonium alum.
