FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: field structure that has adjustable air gap between electrical machine magnets can be used to save magnetic flux in air gap and, consequently, electromagnetic power of machine incorporates provision for adjusting air gap between magnetic cores. The latter are composite structures with their one half made in the form of two semi-rings and other one being solid ring. According to invention, adjusting mechanism is made in the form of braces joining together semi-rings of magnetic cores whose one end is held in position for turning on one semi-ring and other one is fitted in hole provided in other semi-ring. Field structure is frameless and may be symmetric or asymmetric; magnetic flux is varied by adjusting air gap between magnetic cores; universal design of electrical machine is ensured due to provision for installing magnets and armatures of different thickness.
