FIELD: railway transport; brake equipment of traction rolling stock. SUBSTANCE: brake shoe has steel frame and arc-shaped cast iron body consisting of main and shaped sections. One row of rib inserts in built into shoe body on shaped section from side of working friction surface. Inserts are made in form of cylindrical members with longitudinal cutoff encompassing flange of wheel tyre. Two groups of cylindrical inserts are fitted in rows on main section. Centers of three nearest inserts in each group are arranged at equal distance from each other and are turned relative to longitudinal axis of shoe from rows of inserts. Inserts are made of metals, for instance, steel. EFFECT: increased reliability and efficiency of brake shoe. 11 cl, 4 dwg
