BRUSH SEAL Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: brush seals dividing two space of different pressures (P1, P2) between stator and rotor of turbo-machine. SUBSTANCE: contact members of brush seal have bent-aside sections whose ends are in contact with surface of rotor being sealed, thus simultaneously ensuring low rigidity of contact members and occupation of small area in radial direction. Provision is made for contact member holder which has stop at distance (a) from bent-aside sections and is located across direction of contact members. Distance is calculated on the condition of obtaining required springing of flexible contact members. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of seal. 5 cl, 4 dwg
