FIELD: power engineering; high- and superhigh-voltage power transmission lines. SUBSTANCE: method involves correction of arc feeding current and recovery voltage at point of short circuit by opening neutral circuit of four-wire reactor and changing over correction reactor taps depending on phase failed in overhead line; to this end, its reactance is gradually varied depending on power conveyed over transmission line; this reactance is reduced for intermediate phase on middle section of line conductors and increased for remaining phases in response to increase in positive angle of power transmission or otherwise for negative angles, that is, reactance of correction reactor is increased in response to decrease in power of shunt reactors; corrective reactance as function of power transmission angle on line is reduced in case short-circuit point shifts to center of overhead line approaching it to optimal value in absence of power transmission over overhead line. EFFECT: improved effectiveness of arc feeding current reduction during no-current interval of automatic single-phase reclosure. 6 dwg, 1 tbl
