FIELD: poultry farming. SUBSTANCE: method involves illuminating eggs by means of directed light beam for evaluating development of embryo band in egg yolk. Development of embryo in yolk is evaluated through variations in volume of air cavity in egg, which are registered by variations of area of air cavity shade in horizontal projection. Method is used for selecting eggs for incubation, and for designing machines and equipment for meat and egg production. EFFECT: reduced loss of eggs during incubation and increased percentage of survival of young birds from total number of incubated eggs. 2 cl, 1 dwg
