FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: essence of invention lies in selection of datum plane inside measured compartment of tank in any place easy of access and in placement of device measuring angles on it. Entire measured volume is conventially divided into spherical sectors, angles between rays directed on to characteristic points of internal surface that are chosen in 5 or 10 degrees are determined. After this distances from center of datum plane to these points are measured, measured linear and angular dimensions of spherical sectors are registered and sought-for volume is calculated by formula where r(α,β) is radius-vector determined by angles α and β correspondingly in vertical and horizontal planes.
