FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: invention is meant for use in technological processes of mining and processing of iron ores at mining and beneficiation works. Each sample of ore material is placed into measurement zone of variable-induction or variable-reluctance pickups and signal E across output of pickup is found. Then each sample is weighed and mass M of sample is determined. Value of signal E is divided into value of mass M, that is, parameter y=E/M is found with due account of characteristic x/y, so called regression line, obtained in advance and used to estimate content of iron in ore material of operative sample. EFFECT: increased accuracy of determination of content of iron in operative samples of ore material. 2 cl, 5 dwg
