FIELD: manufacture of fuel elements for nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: tubular part is locked in fixture and compressed with plug. Assembly is heated by welding current pulse which is distributed throughout entire length of welding region. Welding force is applied. Rate of plug setting has two peak values. Rate of change of welding-current pulse energy equivalent is minimum 25 . Rate of rise of welding current pulse is minimum 1 kA/ms. EFFECT: improved quality of welds and reliability of fuel element pressurization. 2 cl, 4 dwg
