FIELD: mining; applicable in splitting of oversizes, dismantling of structures, breaking of rock blocks from rock mass, cutting of building stone and crystalline raw materials. SUBSTANCE: method includes drilling of boreholes and formation of transverse fractures at different levels in it. Then formed between transverse fractures are longitudinal fractures in preset planes running through borehole axis. For formation of longitudinal fractures, borehole first is filled with non-Newtonian liquid, and then with loose material, and wedges are driven into loose material with periodic impact load applied to wedges. In so doing, before formation of each fracture, transverse and longitudinal fractures formed earlier are blocked with impermeable solid material to prevent non-Newtonian liquid from getting into then from borehole. EFFECT: higher efficiency of rock breakage by its rupture from single borehole in many planes with different orientation. 5 cl, 2 dwg
