FIELD: textile manufacture. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pretreatment of fabrics to improve their integrity and/or color using of peroxide bleaching formulations. Dirty fabric is covered with aqueous bleaching formulation and held for specified time prior to be washed. Formulation contains effective amount of peroxide bleacher and fabric-protection agent with constant of stability (log K) equal to at least 3 for Cu(II) as measured at 25 C and ionic strength 0.1 M, concentration of which (C) was measured as oil percent of indicated bleaching formulation calculated in terms of formula 1. As the result, damage protection of fabric and bleaching efficiency are increased. Fabric-protection agent is selected from group including salicylic acid and its derivatives, among them 5-sulfosalicylic acid, 5-bromoosalicylic acid, 5-chlorosalicylic acid, corresponding salts with conjugated bases, and their mixtures.
