FIELD: well logging; applicable in determination of wellbore path and angles of rotation of instruments for measurement of angular motions of well. SUBSTANCE: inertial mass is made in the form of cone with ribbed surface installed in a spaced relation to generator inside hollow cone suspended from hollow shaft inside hollow chamber. Chamber is installed inside body and forms upper and lower end compartments. Lower end compartment accommodates a compressor. Upper end compartment accommodates hollow shaft with radial holes for free rotation round its axis. Mounted on shaft is an angle converter. Internal mass is held from rotation together with instrument body by fluid flowing down its body, or by air fed by compressor. EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurement of azimuth and angle of rotation of downhole instruments due to damping of inertial mass by means of substance moving along mass surface. 1 dwg
