FIELD: foundry. SUBSTANCE: method of preparing varnish containing 7-8% polyvinyl acetate dispersion, 7-4% water, and 86-88% organic solvent consists in preliminarily mixing polyvinyl acetate dispersion with water and organic solvent at weight ratio (1-2):1:1, followed by two-step addition of organic solvent at first-to-second-step portion ratio 1:(2.95-3.20) and stirring of ingredients until homogeneous varnish is obtained. EFFECT: improved covering ability of dressings and increased their sedimentation stability and wear resistance. 6 tbl
