FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: composition contains, as first cracking component, 0.5 to 40% of beta-zeolite with silica-to-alumina molar ratio at least 20, which is constituted by crystals less than 100 nm in size; 0.5 to 90% of second cracking component selected from (i) crystalline molecular sieves with pore diameter above 0.6 nm, (ii) crystalline mesoporous aluminosilicates with pore diameter at least 1.3 nm, and (iii) clays; and up to 50 weight parts of at least one hydrogenating component. Hydrocarbon feedstock is converted in presence of catalytic composition preferably at temperature between 350 and 500 C and total pressure from 3 to 30 MPa. EFFECT: increased catalytic activity and selectivity for middle distillates. 12 cl, 4 tbl, 5 ex
