FIELD: electronic engineering; power units for optical converters. SUBSTANCE: piezoelectric transformer has excitation section and generator section. Excitation section is made in the form or radially polarized ring carrying electrodes on inner and outer surfaces. Generator section is, essentially, transversely polarized disk carrying electrodes on its planar surfaces. Disk is mounted inside ring and mechanically joined to the latter through insulating layer. Ring and disk electrodes are electrically isolated. Disk may be made in the form of stack of plates. Ring may be assembled of concentric members. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and enlarged functional capabilities of transformer. 5 cl, 3 dwg
