FIELD: machine engineering, possibly operations for changing spindle heads. SUBSTANCE: metal cutting machine tool includes strut with vertical carriage moving along height and carrying spindle head for working article. Device for changing spindle head by new one includes carrying console rotated by 90 degrees around vertical axis. Two clamping couplings are mounted one over another on carrying console. Each coupling may support one spindle head. Spindle heads are approached by means of device gripping them from upwards and they are fed to unit for changing spindle heads. Said unit grips spindle head at lateral side. When carrying console is rotated by 90 degrees spindle head is approached to strut, and in the result it may be raised by vertical carriage. EFFECT: improved small-size design providing short time period for simplified change of spindle heads. 9 cl, 4 dwg
