SURGICAL METHOD FOR TREATING NERVE TRUNK LESIONS IN AXILLARY SEGMENT OF NEUROVASCULAR FASCICLE Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves layer-by-layer accessing the medial, ulnar, radial and cutanomuscular peripheral nerves using projection incision in the axillary area of the neurovascular fascicle. Considerable cicatricial degeneration all over the segment or traumatic defect being found, the incision is continued over the chest. The thoracodorsal nerve of the chest is selected in block with thoracodorsal artery and two concomitant veins and its distal part is transected and bifurcation of the thoracodorsal artery and veins. The selected blood- supplied nerve-donor is rolled out and attached to the distal fragment of one of the mentioned peripheral nerves injured most of all using microsurgical suture. Then the other defects are substituted with neurovascular grafts produced from internal cutaneous nerves of arm and forearm. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment.
