FIELD: thermal physics, quality inspection of heat insulation coats. SUBSTANCE: process of non-destructive inspection of thermophysical characteristics of materials consists in pulse heating of surface of examined heat insulation material and in measurement of temperature values in specified test point. Surface of material is heated by point pulse heat source and measurements are taken in one point only before time moment when relationship between temperature value and its time differential value reaches certain, preset ratio and desired-for thermophysical characteristics of materials - thermal diffusivity and heat conductivity are found by computation proceeding from duration of time interval before onset of ratio specified in advance.
