FIELD: oil recovery, more specifically, methods of production of additives to water injected into oil formation for increase of recovery efficiency of oil formations. SUBSTANCE: method includes treatment of powdery polyacrylamide with ionizing radiation and subsequent treatment of radiated polyacrylamide with water in amount of 10-30% of polyacrylamide weight. Treatment with ionizing radiation is carried out to obtain absorbed radiation dose of 0.1-1.0 Mrad. Treatments with radiation and water are carried out at atmospheric conditions. EFFECT: improved stability and, as a result, performance characteristics of additive due to protection of polymer from destruction, simplified method. 3 cl, 2 tbl, 2 ex
