FIELD: inorganic compounds technology. SUBSTANCE: nitric acid in aqueous solutions containing thorium and rare-earth metals is neutralized to its concentration 0.005-0.2 M, after which sodium benzenesulfinate and collector are added, the latter being represented by polyfluorinated organic acids, alcohols, aldehydes, or ketones depicted by general formula CxFyOzHs wherein x= 5-13, y=5-19, z=1-2, and s=1-4. Weight ratio of aqueous solution to collector is (5-10):1. The total is stirred and sodium benzenesulfinate is isolated from separated collector. EFFECT: increased thorium recovery selectivity. 3 tbl, 3 ex
