METHOD FOR QUANTITATIVE EVALUATION OF INFLAMMATORY PROCESS IN PARODONTIUM TISSUES Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, therapeutic and orthopedic stomatology, orthodontics. SUBSTANCE: the method deals with detecting the sites and degree of parodontium inflammation by measuring the difference of potentials in mouth cavity with the help of two nonpolarizing electrodes. A measuring electrode is applied onto a gingival section tested, and comparison electrode - onto mucosal section of sublingual area at the border of cavity bottom and its central part. Negative difference of potentials indicates no parodontium tissues inflammation, and positive one demonstrates the presence of inflammatory process. The value of this difference characterizes the degree of inflammatory process. EFFECT: higher accuracy and significance of obtained results.
