VARIABLE WIDTH PLOW Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: agricultural engineering. SUBSTANCE: plow has frame and fingers for connecting to lower tie-rods of tractor attachment, and plow bodies fixed on brackets rotating with respect to vertical axes. Brackets are equipped with cranks. Bracket cranks are interconnected through pivotal tie-rods to form pivotal parallelogram system. Plow frame is made semirigid. One finger is immovably positioned on frame and other finger is positioned for displacement in plow advancement direction and kinematically connected to crank. Movable finger is mounted on one arm of rocking shaft rotating in longitudinal-vertical plane and horizontal hinge is positioned on other arm of rocking shaft. Carrier connected through lever and tie-rod with crank is joined to horizontal hinge. Displacement of carrier in longitudinal-vertical plane is provided due to adequately selected ratio of arm sizes of lever and rocking shaft. Screw-type tightening member is used for rotation of rocking shaft and, accordingly, alteration of plow width. Screw-type tightening member is connected with one end to rocking shaft and with other end to frame. Projection on longitudinal-vertical plane of straight line, which connects pivot hinges, is extending in the vicinity of finger fixed on rocking shaft. Such construction allows weight of plow to be reduced, which is of particular value for multiple-share mounted plow connectable to tractor for advancement on field.
