DEVICE FOR LINING OF BATH OF ORE-SMELTING FURNACE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2194933 C2

FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, furnace structural members, applicable, for example, in ore-smelting furnaces at enterprises producing ferroalloys. SUBSTANCE: the device consists of refractory, heat-insulation and binding materials, carbon blocks for enhancing the reliability of protection of the lining and shell against destruction by melt and aggressive gases, increasing the furnace service life, reduction of shrinkage of the carbon part in the peripheral and interblock seams, improvement of the labor conditions; the carbon layer of the hearth is made of two and more layers of hearth carbon blocks with an optimum width of the interblock and peripheral seams. For packing the interblock and peripheral seams of the optimum width use is made of hearth mass with a hardening temperature within 50 to -30 C. For enhancing the reliability of lining of the surface of the lateral faces of the hearth carbon blocks, as well as the lateral faces of the wall carbon blocks engageable with the peripheral seams are provided with lock grooves. For protection of the blocks against oxidation, when the furnace is put into service, the upper layer of the hearth carbon blocks is coated with a protective layer of hearth mass. On ore-smelting furnaces operating with a permanent slag lining on the bath walls at packing of the peripheral seam between the wall and hearth carbon blocks the width of the peripheral seam varies reducing the packing time. A layer of hearth mass is made above the peripheral seam of the upper layer of the hearth carbon blocks for protection of it against oxidation. EFFECT: enhanced service life of the lining and improved labor conditions. 7 cl, 3 dwg, 2 tbl
