FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention is designed for connecting shafts in mechanical system where no relative slipping is tolerable. Said jaw clutch has driving clutch member movable in axial direction with spring-loaded jaws and steps for rods of pilots, and driven clutch member with end face jaws and engagement mechanism. Engagement mechanism is made in form of pilots with spring-loaded rods coupled by torsional spring and key movable in axial direction and engaging with pilots, engagement jaws interacting with projections of movable key and bushing engaging by its bevels with driven clutch member. Novelty is that driving clutch member is provided with safety devices made in stops and engaging with spring-loaded rods of pilots at rotation of clutch. Bushing of engagement mechanism is provided with cams which can also engage with said rods. EFFECT: improved reliability of operation of locking elements of driving and driven clutch members. 7 dwg
