FIELD: detergents. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to detergent agents used for metallic surface cleansing. The indicated detergent agent comprises a non-ionogenic and/or an anionic surface-active substance, chelating agent and activator of detergent effect taken in the following ratio: chelating agent : surface-active substance : activator = (0.41-1.09) : (0.11-0.40) : 1, respectively. Detergent can be used for removal of contaminants from article surface in assembly manufacture and for preparing surface before application of paint and varnish covers in automobile industry. Improved wetting capacity, decreased foaming, enhanced detergent capacity of agent. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of detergent agent. 5 cl, 1 tbl
