METHOD FOR MAKING U-SHAPED SECTION Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: plastic metal working, possibly manufacture of bent thin-wall symmetrical U-shaped sections with large size of horizontal and lateral flanges. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of simultaneously forming by rolls web and horizontal flanges at keeping constant level of horizontal flanges; at first transition bending up lateral flanges by angle near to permissible one; at further transitions forming webs of section relative to level of horizontal flanges in zone of their elastic deformation at horizontally shifting flanges to center of billet by designed distance values depending upon interstand interval. EFFECT: elimination of edge waviness, lowered lengthwise bending, decreased remaining stresses and twisting, enlarged manufacturing possibilities at using equipment with variable interstand interval from one transition to another, increased assortment of sections, namely with bottom. 3 dwg
