FIELD: mechanical engineering; machine tool industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automatic converters of torques and gear ratios. Proposed variable-speed drive consists of input shaft 1, output shaft 16 with gears 2,2' and 15, 15', carrier 20, gear clusters 13 and 14, 13' and 14', and two cardan drives, all installed in housing. Gears 3,3; of driving shafts 4,4' of cardan drives are in meshing with gears 2,2' of input shaft. Driving shafts 4,4' and driven shaft 8 with gear 9 of cardan drives are interconnected by double joint cardans 5 and 6, 5' and 6' with cardan shaft 6 in between. Driving shafts 4 and 4' are installed in supports of housing and its bridges for rotation and axial displacement. Driven shaft 8 is installed on rocker 11 connected with carrier 20. carrier 20 is installed on supports of housing bridge. Central gear of planet pinion shaft 19 of carrier 20 is engaged with gear 9 of driven shaft, and end gears 12, 12' are connected, through gear cluster 13 and 14, 13' and 14' with gears 15, 15' of output shaft 16.
