FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: proposed X-ray shielding rubber designed for use in X-ray engineering to manufacture shielding facilities for medical institutions to shield personnel and patients of X-ray units has rubber matrix filled with polydispersed pre-segregated mixture of complex oxide of rare-earth elements with grain size of 10-9-10-3 distributed over matrix volume. Matrix is made in the form of calendar sheets fixed in position by means of autoclave curing. Shielding equivalent of X-ray shielding rubber relative to actual thickness of rare-earth elements incorporated in this rubber within voltages of 40-128 kV across anode of X-ray tube and respective radiant quantum energy of X-ray tube of 27-86 KeV is regulated according to equation Xr/Xray=(2÷21), where Xr is reduced shielding thickness of rare-earth elements in X-ray shielding rubber; X is actual shielding thickness of rare-earth elements in same rubber. EFFECT: reduced thickness of shielding facilities and enhanced reliability of shielding personnel and patients in procedure units. 1 cl, 1 ex
