FIELD: information science hardware and computer engineering. SUBSTANCE: device can be used for solution of tasks of assembling dictionaries and reference books, making data bases, including random entries searching in words of text in two independent modes. Comparison is made sequentially in two modes of operation; first mode of operation includes determination of entries having common parts, second mode includes determination of entries having no common parts. Device has entries memory unit, comparator, words memory unit, shift signal analyzing and shaping unit, entry addresses storage unit, control unit, random access memory, D flip-flop, electronic switches, clock generator, binary counters, reversing registers, logical AND gates, and inverting-input AND gates. EFFECT: enlarged functional capabilities of device, enhanced reliability of digital automaton, and simplified algorithm of device control unit. 1 cl, 7 dwg
